first week's impression of minneapolis...

so i've been in minneapolis now for just over a week.... thought i'd write about my first impressions... so far i'm having a good time. good weather, i really like my apt (although i still need my sofa), and still more time to explore... here are just a few impressions:

- over/under on how many speeding tickets i get in the next 12 months: 2 ... speedlimits are generally way tooo low (55mph)... the hard part is that the roads are pretty empty most of the time...already driven by two cops with their radar guns out... luckily havent been pulled over yet...i've actually used my cruise control to stay at 60mph!! yes its that bad...

- cost of living isnt that much different... well i havent noticed a big difference yet.. drinks are a little less than in LA..thats a plus .. but no hefeweizen at the liquor store across the street!

- woot woot for directv and other technology... its nice to catch a dodger game with vin scully doing play by play after a long day... and it'll keep me sane during the winter with ducks games...

- everyone keeps mentioning how its been a colder summer than usual...and that it will probably lead to a colder winter than avg.....yay.

- more thoughts to come...

things to do before leaving LA...

As most of you may know I'll be moving to Minneapolis in late July, thus, I decided to create a list of things I need to do in LA before I depart... no particular order necessary... feel free to recommend something for me to add... more importantly come and join me!

- magic mountain - need to get on X again, and i'm sure the roller coasters inside the mall of america dont really live up to magic.

- go kart racing

- visit the griffith observatory

-play over the line...

- eat at C&Os

random... from dreams to games.. to who knows what else...

haven't written in a bit..so decided to make a multi-post...

first off... dreams... we all hear how dreams have meaning, although usually its a random connection, i.e. losing teeth means you feel you are losing power/ control over something... i've never had a dream that was very blatant to me... the other night i had a dream that was very clear in what my subconscious was trying to tell me.. "don't give up", for what specifically i am not sure. it was a real dream with a strange connection to baseball...something about 5 outs not mattering, even though an inning only has 3 outs, and 5 outs has no meaning at all... but at one point in my dream a random individual asked me what does the 5outs mean, and i answered, "it doesnt matter how many outs there are, you have to keep batting and not give up" ..seemed pretty straight forward... now i just have to realize what i cant give up about.. lol...

----
in other news... who would have thought the ducks would be this far in the playoffs? i definitely didn't... i remember about a month before the season ended i was telling folks the one good thing about the ducks not making it into the playoffs is that i would save money on playoff tickets... haha that didnt work out like i planned... but its all good... we eliminated the sharks... and have extended our series with the red wings to 7 games... woot woot!

13hr trip to San Jose...

Airfare: $5.00
Hotel: $64.00
Ticket to game: $86.75

Having two old guys get mad because I was yelling "Lets Go Ducks!" : Hilarious
Final Score Ducks 2 Sharks 0 : Priceless

I am so glad I decided on tuesday to make the quick trip up to San Jose. It's a good thing that I had a free award ticket for Southwest. I love playoff hockey, and getting the chance to see these two teams face each other in game 1 was great. I only ran into one other ducks fan at the game. Although small in number, I did my best to represent the Ducks. Did so to the point that two old guys in front of me got annoyed that I was cheering "Lets Go Ducks!!" I'm sorry, but if the crowd is not able to drown me out with their cheering, then you have no right to tell me I am being "Excessive" and "an asshole" for supporting my team. Don't be sore losers now! It is so great being in enemy territory! ;)

Other things I noticed at the "shark tank":
- the line for mixed drinks are extremely short, longest wait was 5 min!
- the "uno mas" burritos are crap!
- light rail in dwtn san jose is awesome.
- cool latino gave me a hard time, then showed off his shirt which read "Hockey Night in Puerto Vallarta"
- san jose fans are definitely loud...at the beginning.. give them 10-15min the quiet down, score on them and you can drop a pin.
- it's really nice seeing quiet shark fans walk out their arena after a loss. ;)
